Visitors to São Miguel who appreciate comfort and good old fashioned

appreciate the four star luxury Hotel Marina Atlantico. In a prime position at
the eastern end of Ponta Delgada's promenade the 140 room hotel opened its
doors in November 2004 as the flagship of the very service orientated
Bensaude hotel group.
From the outside the hotel's sleek lines resemble an ocean liner, almost as a
reflection of the cruise ships often moored in the harbour opposite. Inside the
luxury liner theme is continued with comfortable leather club seating and
decking areas commanding views of the ocean, the nearby marina and the
more distant rolling hills.
The rooms are spacious and furnished and equipped to the highest standards
with impressive bathrooms, a comfortable seating area, a multi-channel cable
television, internet access and air conditioning and many have a balcony with
a sea-view. All have mini-bars and room service is available for those wishing
to enjoy a quiet night in after a hard day's exploring.
As would be expected of an establishment of this quality, the restaurant and
bar offer excellent service, not to mention a delicious array of food and the
inevitable overindulgence can always be worked off in the indoor pool and
gym or by a brisk walk over the hotels bridge and along the promenade.
Guests at the Marina Atlantico can easily explore Ponta Delgado's fine public
buildings, museums, shops and squares on foot as the city is fairly compact,
curving around the bay for about 3 kilometres. Whale watchers and deep-sea
fishermen can set sail from the nearby harbour and the countryside, with all its
stunning geographical features, abundant flora and appealing villages can
easily be accessed by hire car, public transport or organised excursion.
